Quanta Plus is a web development tool for the K Desktop Environment. Quanta is designed for quick web development and is rapidly becoming a mature editor with a number of great features.

This site is dedicated to helping you get more out of Quanta and helping the development team put more in. Quanta is free and open source software under the GPL. That's free as in freedom. You are welcome to look inside and see how it ticks and even to make changes to the code and send them in to us. If we like it millions of people could be running code that you wrote. What we want to express here is community and how people with a common interest can support each other to reach common goals. Our goal is to have the best web development tool available anywhere and to give it away freely. We hope that in some small way you can be a part of that, maybe reporting a bug, sending in a template or contributing to our effort.

Quanta has had a great deal of success and acclaim. When you load it up and begin making pages, putting a Quanta logo on them and interacting to help us make Quanta better you are a part of that community. We welcome you.

On these pages you will find documentation, screenshots, news and web articles from the the project, developer information, project schedules and do lists, FAQs, tips and places to submit and retrieve resources. By resources I mean that Quanta is continuously extending itself on the premise that an easily extensible tool becomes something nearly everyone in the community can extend. Quanta has loadable toolbars, loadable DTDs, comprehensive templating abilities, universal scripting and more areas including our upcoming DCOP enabled dialog builder.

In short our goal is to produce a program that we could walk away from and it could continue to evolve with nothing more than the skills it takes to write a web page... and while we continue to add new and exciting features that require extensive programming you can be helping us to add templates and scripts and more until we have an on line resource that makes Quanta very complete. This is what no proprietary vendor can do...

• They can't gather the input of thousands of users.
• They can't design in such an open fashion as to remove all their hooks.
• They can't make a product so extensible that it takes away their upgrade leverage.
• They can't run development crews our size without considerable investment.
• They don't have the hugely productive environment of KDE to program in.
• They cannot give it away for free.

So no matter what you think about web editors right now... get ready to see a new vision. The more we proceed, the more we lead. Our final advantage is our approach. Our team is not just a lot of bright and talented people. Our team is also people who have learned how to look at things the same way the legendary open source projects like Linux, Apache and PHP do. We know there is a better way to do things than has been done. So we are setting out to prove it here. And because it is all about the community you too can play a part in helping us to do it better.
